This position has responsibilities in the areas of reading prints/design sheets, programming and tooling CNC coilers, production of coil springs and or wire forms, and all aspects of producing quality springs.
Summary Statement:
With general guidance from production manager, engineering team and sales manager, supports customer needs by reading prints/design sheets, determining needs and requirements of the job, tooling CNC machines, programming CNC machines, running and inspecting parts and meeting shipping deadlines.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Production:
- Ability to identify spring type.
- Ability to read prints and design sheets, including initial tension, rate, force, etc. requirements.
- Ability to determine inspection requirements and using test equipment.
- Ability to determine the wire requirements for the job.
- Ability to identify grades of raw material.
- Ability to convert fractions.
- Ability to determine tooling needs for job requirement.
- Ability to tool and program machine.
- Strong mechanical aptitude support required.
- Ability to use forklift.

- Maintain revision control records.
- Maintain customer fixtures and samples.

Equipment Used:
CNC coilers or wire formers ranging in wire sizes .006 to .593; conveyor ovens or batch style ovens, caliper, micrometer, pin gages, force testers, optical testers, robot.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a manufacturing/production environment. No travel required.
Physical Requirements:
- Strength and movement:
Work requires long-term standing, strength and exertion with fixturing and tooling machines, frequent use of CNC controller monitor, frequent movement of equipment and materials requiring exertion of greater than 30 pounds force. There is frequent movement within the facility to communicate with staff. - Sensory ability:
Vision must be sufficient to read precision measurement tools along with words, numbers and detailed diagrams on paper and/or computer screens. - Communication:
Verbal & written communication occurs frequently with staff from other departments, vendors and customers.

- Reading Ability:
The position requires the ability to read technical text of advanced difficulty. - Writing:
Writing skills are required at a level consistent with general persuasive communication. - Verbal Skills:
Verbal communication needs to be at a level consistent with providing explanations and advising on specific requirements. - Math Skills:
Math ability needs to be at a technical level consistent with applying advanced knowledge. Knowledge of trigonometry and geometry is NOT required. - Reasoning Ability:
Reasoning ability needs to be at a level consistent with solving difficult problems and to identify where facts may be insufficient or misleading, requiring extensive inquiry or research extending into all work areas. Solutions require integration of information and considerable independent judgment. Occasionally requires development of new designs or theories.
Employment Selection Criteria:
This position requires a high level of attention to detail and ability to multitask, with CNC programming experience, a must. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 2-5+ years’ experience in CNC programming.
